Bataan Board Member Antonino Roman, Jr. said during last Sunday’s Jon’s Cup basketball tournament in Orani that it’s about time the province draw up a sports program that would attend to the development of talented young generation engaged in sports activities.
Roman said he could relate to the plight of basketball players who had to observe daily routine to keep them going for the sport. “Nakakarelate ako sa inyo– yung gigising nang maaga, magwa-warm up, and all that…,” the lawyer “bokal” said in his speech during the opening of the tournament. Roman added that the program would help identify what sport local talents would excel. He said that there are already basketball stars from Bataan who made their names in the said sport.
“Dapat masundan pa sila,” he said. Jonjon Arizapa who initiated the holding of “Jon’s Cup” basketball tournament said the project aims to develop local players that could become a basketball star someday. He plans to hold this tournament every year.
Pusong Pinoy Partylist Congressman Jet Nisay in his opening remarks said he appreciated “very much the holding of this tournament that would develop the potent force of our youth in sports.” Hermosa Mayor Jopet Inton who also graced the sport tournament opening executed a “sport number” with the muses of different basketball teams who gamely went with the mayor’s way of knowing them. “Sport ba kayo? Sige nga kung sport kayo,” says the mayor.
